The eighth abc art berlin contemporary finishes on Sunday. This year’s edition was very positively received and attended by some 30 000 visitors, among them national and international collectors, curators, artists and representatives from various museums and art institutions.
The architectural design by June14 Meyer-Grohbrügge & Chermayeff received positive feedback from visitors and exhibitors alike. The spatial concept, which provided a variety of more or less open or closed spaces, functioned particularly well for the presentation of artworks.
For the first time this year the adjacent Hall C hosted the Proximities and Desires exhibition, curated by Nikola Dietrich. The exhibition presented works from private collections that exert a formative influence on the Berlin art scene.
Another successful aspect of this year’s abc program was the collaboration with Berlin Art Week and Talking Galleries, a discursive event format from Barcelona. Over 700 guests attended the star-studded panel discussions on Friday and Saturday morning. The podium discussions were chaired by Chris Dercon and Chus Marinéz and dealt with current art market issues.
